Dyson has been making attempts to reach niche vacuum cleaner markets. Dyson has just designed and released a vacuum cleaner targeted at asthma and allergy sufferers. Unfortunately for Dyson, they still give their vacuum cleaners boring alphanumeric names that aren’t descriptive so most people don’t know what makes the Dyson DC17 different from other Dyson Vacuum Cleaners such as the DC14 and DC07. It’s okay though, your Sensei is here to help you make sense of the world of vacuum cleaners and make an informed vacuum cleaner purchase. Pros
Dyson designed the DC17 vacuum cleaner for a single purpose; removing the dust and allergens that exacerbate allergies and asthma. To accomplish this goal they have redesigned their classic cyclone suction system, the end result is the Level 3 Root Cyclone system. What’s the difference between the Level 3 Root system and your typical Dyson cyclone suction system? Simple, the Level 3 Cyclone system sends air through more cyclones removing the most amount of dust possible.

I’m willing to bet you’re asking “Is that it?” Well, there are a couple other minor differences, the DC17 is made with a rotating brushbar designed to clean American carpets better, other Dyson models are better designed for use on thin European carpets.

Another thing I feel I must comment on is handling. The Dyson DC17 Cyclone Vacuum Cleaner is extremely easy to maneuver compared to some of the other Dyson vacuum models. A lot of people who buy the DC17 think it came with a self propel drive system, this is not the case. It’s simply a result of Dyson’s excellent research and design team.

Finally, as with all Dyson Vacuum Cleaners, the DC17 is incredibly powerful. Pet hair and high traffic areas cease to become a problem and your first couple vacuuming sessions will likely yield mounds of dirt you never knew you had.

Cons
The only is price. I would really like to see the Dyson DC17 sell for about $50 less. A price drop would make the DC17 my favorite Dyson model on the market. If there’s an Amazon sale I’ll be sure to mention it on the Dyson Blog. Check back for updates!

Your Sensei has been lounging around the house. In an effort to kill the boredom and display my loyalty to you, the reader I’ve decided to write another Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Review. I bring you a review of the Dyson DC18 Slim Cyclonic Vacuum Cleaner.

Everyone knows I hold Dyson Vacuum Cleaners in high regard. However, one of their drawbacks is their extremely bulky weight. Dyson has finally decided to manufacture and design a lightweight version of one of their greatest vacuum cleaners and your Sensei is proud to present his review of the Dyson DC18 Lightweight Vacuum Cleaner.

Pros
Lightweight. That’s going to be a recurring theme in this review and the prime advantage of the DC18. It’s not the lightest vacuum cleaner on the market, but it’s significantly lighter than the any of the other Dyson Vacuum Cleaners. If you’ve ever handled any of the conventional Dyson Vacuum Cleaner models you’ll know they can be a bit difficult to maneuver, especially if you’re a shorter person. The Dyson Slim improves handling and maneuverability to a great degree, and though it’s still just as big as your typical vacuum cleaner, it’s much more manageable than the full size Dyson Vacuum Cleaners.

Dyson has spent decades building up a brand name known for powerful vacuum cleaners. The Dyson DC18 Vacuum Cleaner lives up to Dyson’s reputation and delivers an extremely powerful cyclonic suction system that picks up dirt and dust that would be left behind the average home vacuum cleaner. You’re going to have to upgrade to a commercial vacuum cleaner for thousands of dollars to find a vacuum cleaner that can go toe to toe with the Dyson DC18 Slim in terms of suction power.

Cons
The price is a little high. I understand it’s difficult delivering a vacuum cleaner as powerful as a Dyson in such a small frame, but it’s still a little expensive. The cleaning path also noticeably smaller than the normal Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Line. It’s not that big of a deal, and can actually be a pro if you live in a house with lots of nooks and crannies, but your Sensei simply thinks bigger in this case is better.

Final Analysis
The Dyson DC18 Cyclonic Vacuum Cleaner is an excellent option for people with little storage space, want a more maneuverable vacuum cleaner, and but still want the quality and power afforded by the Dyson brand. Despite the small size, this vacuum cleaner shows up large on your Sensei’s radar and earns a solid 4.5 stars out of 5.

A product with a hundred reviews on Amazon is a very rare thing. A product with a hundred reviews averaging 4 stars is exceptional. The Dyson DC07 Cyclone Animal Upright Vacuum shatters that. With over 500 reviews an a 4.5 star average score, the Dyson DC07 Animal is one of the most purchased, highest rated products on the internet! More than 4 out of every 5 reviewers have given the Dyson DC07 Animal a perfect 5 star score. What makes the Dyson DC07 Animal so remarkable? Let’s take a look and find out.

Pros
If you’ve read my Dyson brand review, you’ll know I strongly recommend nearly every vacuum in Dyson’s entire line. The Dyson DC07 is yet another home run in the Dyson family and the most popular vacuum sold by Dyson. It’s nearly identical to the Dyson DC07 Vacuum Cleaner, except the DC07 Animal is purple and comes with a few more accessories. Everything I’ve said about the yellow DC07 holds true for the DC07 Animal so I’ll forgo my raving about the excellent sealed HEPA filtration system that’s great for allergy and asthma sufferers and how people drop their jaw in awe of the dirt they can pick up with the their DC07.

Rather, I’ll be focusing on the accessories that differentiate the Dyson DC07 from the Dyson DC07 Animal. First accessory included with the Dyson Animal DC07 is the Zorb, Dyson’s own stain and odor removal kit. Not in and of itself a big deal and definitely not a reason to invest an extra hundred bucks for the Animal version of the DC07. If you’re looking for an excellent carpet stain removal agent check out Resolve. It comes in a large, red and white bottle. It’s great at removing stains!

Next on our list is the Low Reach Floor Tool. If you hate sweeping like I do, the Low Reach Floor Tool is perfect for cleaning up hard wood flooring, tile, and thin carpets. The low reach floor tool is designed to be thin allowing users to clean under tables, beds, and other furniture.

The last accessory exclusive to the Dyson Animal Vacuum Cleaner is the Mini Turbine Head. The Mini Turbine head is designed to pick up dust and pet hair from couches, corners. Powered hand tools are fairly new to the vacuum industry but Dyson has done an excellent job with their Mini Turbine Head.

Cons
It’s expensive and heavy. Dyson is the Mercedes of Vacuum Cleaners. It’s powerful, well designed, and has a hefty price tag.

Final Analysis
If you’re looking for an extremely powerful, reliable, and well built vacuum cleaner, have pets, asthma, or allergies, the Dyson DC07 Animal is going to be one of your best choices if you have the budget. I’m not going to mark it down for the $499 price tag because Dyson really does deliver an extremely well made vacuum cleaner. If you have the money and want the cleanest carpets and flooring possible, you can’t go wrong with any Dyson model. Dyson has earned an extremely rare 5 stars out of 5.

Vacuum Rating: 5 stars out of 5 for being one of the most powerful vacuum cleaners on the market.

It takes a lot for your Sensei to recommend a product that’s more than a couple hundred bucks. Your Sensei works hard for his money and he assumes you all work just as hard if not harder for yours. I would never recommend something, especially an expensive something that I honestly didn’t believe in because I respect how hard it is to make a living these days. So, when I tell you that the Dyson DC07 is worth the $400 price tag I absolutely mean it!

Pros
The Dyson DC07 Cyclonic Vacuum Cleaner is Dyson’s base model. It possesses everything that makes Dyson Vacuum Cleaners unique compared to other vacuum cleaners including a patented cyclonic design that picks up significantly greater amounts of dust compared to most other vacuums and a super effective HEPA filter system that traps dust an allergens.

If you’re a college student and just need to pick up the big scraps on your carpet from last night’s kegger, this is not going to be a good vacuum for you. As a matter of fact, your Sensei recommends the more college budget friendly Hoover Tempo Widepath. But, if you’re a home maker, have allergies, or for some reason extremely concerned with the cleanliness of your carpets the you’re not going to beat the Dyson DC07 Vacuum Cleaner unless you’re willing to pay a couple grand for a professional grade vacuum cleaner. Folks, it’s powerful!

To stress how great the Dyson DC07 Vacuum Cleaner is at keeping dust and allergens out of the air, it has been certified “Asthma and Allergy Friendly” by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

The Dyson Vacuum is extremely reliable and backed by a 5 year warranty. Your Sensei rarely mentions warranties in the “pro” section of his reviews because they’re usually the same legal fluff from every company that warrants their products against “defects” for six months after original purchase. However, Dyson amazes me with a comprehensive 5 year warranty. I feel much more comfortable buying products from companies willing to back up their workmanship with their own pocketbooks than I do buying from companies who know they’re putting out crap and advertise it with a 90 day warranty.

Finally, all you have to do is read user reviews on Amazon to know the Dyson DC07 is an extremely reliable and powerful vacuum cleaner. The Dyson DC07 has been reviewed more than 350 times with a more than 240 5-star ratings and very few 1-star ratings. Spend 15 minutes reading and you’ll see page after page of “Wow, I can’t believe how good this worked!”

Cons
Of course quality doesn’t come without price and neither does power. Four hundred bucks is extremely expensive for anything, unless we’re talking shares of Google a year ago; but that’s another story. It’s also a little clunky and heavy. Not hard to push, but definitely a difficult to lug upstairs or shuffle around corners.

Final Analysis
The Dyson DC07 All Floors Cyclone Upright Vacuum Cleaner is an excellent buy for the serious house cleaner. Unless I were suddenly a millionaire I probably wouldn’t buy it for my dumpy little house. But, if you just paid a lot for new carpet or just plain insist on your carpets being as clean as they possibly can be, the Dyson DC07 Upright Vacuum Cleaner is worth it. It has an excellent track record of performance and very defect complaints, in large part due to Dyson’s many years of experience designing vacuum cleaners. There are so many vacuums out there! Hoover, Bissell, Dirt Devil, Oreck, ughhh. I know choosing a good vacuum cleaner can be a pain. But don’t worry; the Consumer Sensei is here to help you out! Here is the Consumer Sensei guide to Dyson Vacuum Cleaners.

Dyson manufactures high quality vacuum cleaners. In case you haven’t noticed, manufacturers consider “high quality” a synonym for expensive. Yes, Dyson Vacuum Cleaners are expensive, but the Consumer Sensei would not be writing, and highly recommending several of them if I didn’t honestly believe they were worth the price.

Dyson vacuums employ cyclonic technology that sucks up a great deal of dirt, no seriously, these things pick up a lot of dirt. I’ll have to find some personal blogs complete with pictures of horrified people who bring a Dyson home for the first time and see the mess hiding inside their carpet soon. That will be it’s own post. Another hallmark of Dyson Vacuum Cleaners is the highly effective HEPA filtration system. HEPA filtration systems remove dust and allergens from the air, it’s a great feature for people like me with allergies. Finally, Dyson backs their vacuum cleaners with one of the industry’s best vacuum warranties, covering parts and labor for up to 5 years in most cases.
